Six people of different ages and backgrounds were interviewed. Each had lived with ME for years, experiencing the impact of having a poorly-recognised illness.
Interviews explore their traumatic experiences with family, friends and the medical community, including disbelief, maltreatment and abandonment. Patients describe fighting for recognition and treatment from health practitioners, including refusal of treatments and use of the potentially harmful treatments, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Graded Exercise Therapy (GET).
