Research reveals how brain inflammation triggers extreme muscle weakness across several diseases, including viral infection, bacterial infection and Alzheimer's disease. The study, in fruit flies and mice, also identified ways to block this process, which could have implications for treating or preventing the muscle wasting sometimes associated with inflammatory diseases, including bacterial infections, Alzheimer's disease and long COVID.

Ōmokoroa: Radio Station Run From CFS/ME Sufferer’s Bed
Housebound music enthusiast Bradley Simmonds from Ōmokoroa — who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis or CFS/ME — runs his own radio station from the comfort of his own bed. The 46-year-old creates a 90-minute show every few weeks full of gags, fun banter about television shows and movies, quotes and music centred on his favourite decades the 80s and 90s. The show plays across 50 stations throughout New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland and even in the Caribbean, Chile and Cook Islands.

Electroacupuncture Results In Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
A recent study by researchers from the Acupuncture Department of Baoan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, affiliated with Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, has found that electroacupuncture significantly improves symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). The study compared the effects of electroacupuncture treatment with sham treatment and found notable improvements in fatigue levels and quality of life for patients receiving electroacupuncture.

Every doctor encounters patients who complain of symptoms without identifiable physical causes. According to a recent review in The Lancet, one third of all symptoms lack somatic explanations. How can these patients be helped, and what crucial question should always be asked? But for unknown reasons, patients with brain inflammation often develop muscle problems that seem to be independent of the central nervous system. Now, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have revealed how brain inflammation releases a specific protein that travels from the brain to the muscles and causes a loss of muscle function.
