Special Events for May Awareness 2025
Join us for a Blue Sunday cuppa online (15th) or in-person (16th).

Tax-deductible donations received by ME/CFS SA will be included in the world Blue Sunday total.
Thank you to those who will hold a 'Blue Sunday' morning or afternoon tea during May to raise awareness and funds to support those with ME.
Our weekly social zoom on 15 May will be a Blue Sunday cuppa for M.E., as will our monthly in-person social event on 16 May, held in an inner suburb of Adelaide. (Members can email for more information contact@mecfssa.org.au)
Anyone can invite their own family and friends to have a Blue Sunday cuppa for M.E. to raise funds for our important work.
Grill'd Unley Community Matters - thanks to everyone who voted for ME/CFS SA. We won $300 from the Grill'd Unley Charity Fundraising for May.
In 1992, 12 May was chosen as the international awareness day for ME/CFS as it is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of public health and the founder of modern nursing, who suffered for decades with an ME/CFS-like illness.
Florence contracted what was called 'Crimean Fever' whilst serving in the Crimean War. After returning home at the age of 38, she spent the next 50 years homebound and bedridden, achieving much of her later work from the confines of her bed.
In 1995, a blue ribbon was adopted to represent ME/CFS. Ribbons are available from ME/CFS SA for a donation of $1.
